Heavy firing at Bacha Khan University Charsadda by the terrorist attack on the university

PESHAWAR: Heavy firing is taking place inside the Bacha Khan University in Khyber Pakhtunkha’s Charsadda town on Wednesday with eyewitnesses claiming to have heard explosions as well.

Rescue 1122 sources say that five wounded persons have been shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The state-run PTV quotes DSP Charsadda as saying that three armed men entered the university premises and opened fire. Television reports added that a large contingent of security forces had reached the site.

Speaking to DawnNews via telephone, a woman inside the university says intense firing is underway. The woman asked for help, saying assistance be sent to the premises.

Around 3,000 students are enrolled at the university.

Security forces had earlier conduction search operations in adjoining areas and claimed that four wanted men had been arrested. Weapons and army and police uniforms were also recovered from the arrested men.
Charsadda is a district in Pakistan’s northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and has been a scene of several militant attacks during the past decade. The region is mostly rural in its makeup and lies 40 kilometres from Peshawar.

China economic growth slowest in 25 years BBC Report

China's economy grew by 6.9% in 2015, compared with 7.3% a year earlier,marking its slowest growth in a quarter of a century.

China's growth, seen as a driver of the global economy, is a major concern for investors around the world.

Beijing had set an official growth target of "about 7%" for the world's second-largest economy.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has said weaker growth would be acceptable as long as enough new jobs were created.

But some observers say its growth is actually much weaker than official data suggests, though Beijing denies numbers are being inflated.

Analysts said any growth below 6.8% would likely fuel calls for further economic stimulus. Economic growth in the final quarter of 2015 edged down to 6.8%, according to the country's national bureau of statistics.
